Media Ministry 3

Vision

I suppose that outreach (in its simplest form) is something like this: Person -> Media -> Person. The media could be a spoken word, a tract, a podcast, or “anything” else really. So, this ministry is quite broad, but in the end focuses on bringing the Word of God to people that need the Lord.

I like to quote the following texts from Ellen White, about the actual message, and how to do it.

Seventh-day Adventists have been given a work of the most solemn import-the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels messages. There is no other work of so great importance. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention.
– Ellen White, Testimonies to the Church, vol. 9, p. 19

Let every Seventh-day Adventist ask himself, “What can I do to proclaim the third angel’s message?” Christ came to this world to give this message to His servant to give to the churches. It is to be proclaimed to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. How are we to give it? The distribution of our literature is one means by which the message is to be proclaimed. Let every believer scatter broadcast tracts and leaflets and books containing the message for this time. Colporteurs are needed who will go forth to circulate our publications everywhere.

I believe that we can ask for the Latter Rain now:

The descent of the Holy Spirit upon the church is looked forward to as in the future, but it is the privilege of the church to have it now. Seek for it, pray for it, believe for it. We must have it, and Heaven is waiting to bestow it.

The great outpouring of the Spirit of God, which lightens the whole earth with His glory, will not come until we have an enlightened people, that know by experience what it means to be laborers together with God. When we have entire, wholehearted consecration to the service of Christ, God will recognize the fact by an outpouring of His Spirit without measure; but this will not be while the largest portion of the church are not laborers together with God.

So, in conclusion, as long as we (all those in church) do the work (proclaim the three angels’ messages), God will be faithful, and send the Holy Spirit so that we can proclaim the Loud Cry to its fullest.

The third angel’s message is to be sounded by God’s people. It is to swell to the loud cry.

Philosophy

My name is Jarno, and I’m the “leader” of the media ministry. But to be honest, I prefer to see myself as a coordinator only. Having said all that, someone has to make the final decision, so that means me. I’m responsible for any content that we put out.

I fully rely on you to keep me in the loop, and to correct me if I’m wrong.

I do not want to manage every single thing that goes on. I don’t have time for this. But if you’re stuck, come and talk to me.

Communication now is primarily via WhatsApp, but also via email (if required). I’m not actually on WhatsApp believe it or not, so please talk to Arielle instead. She knows as much as I do when it comes to the media ministry. You can talk to me at church, but I prefer it if you do this during the 6 days that God gave us.

I will do my best to update this document as often as I can, so you can always see what to do next, etc.

Zoom meetings are every first Sunday of the month at 7 pm. Links will be posted on WhatsApp.

Like you, I’m a volunteer, and I do this for fun. So, let’s have some fun together. 🙂

Firstlight / Sermons

Goal: Record videos, and offer to Firstlight.

Participants: Clayton, Tuki, Eroni, Xenia

Videos for Firstlight can be relatively “raw”, as Firstlight does their own editing as well. So, maybe an intro (name/topic), sermon (with name of speaker in a bar), and an outro (Waitac website, credits of speaker, and a fadeout.Toggling between two camera angles is also very cool. And the same for slides and pictures, etc. Good audio quality is a must.

I would recommend at least a 2 week buffer between recording, and uploading. We need to allow for guest speakers, and also for any stuff-ups with the recording. Worst-case scenario we may have to record the sermon again, etc.

Handing Out Tracts

Goal: Organizing a way for people to join, and hand tracts out on the street.

Letterboxing

Goal: Get everybody involved in doing something for God.

At this writing nearly twenty thousand colporteurs are in service throughout the world, but this number is far from adequate to meet the need. God calls for message-filled books, magazines, and tracts to be scattered everywhere like the leaves of autumn. As church members unite with literature evangelists in spreading the good news, the task will be accomplished.

Most likely updated Invitation tracts (with a link to Firstlight), but maybe also Mark of the beast tracts.

Costs about $70 per 1,000 tracts. (Provided we buy more than 3,000)

Revelation Crash Course

Goal: Record revelation crash course (50 minutes) for use on Firstlight (?), the website, and also for small groups of 12 people at a time. The idea is to give an overview on the book of Revelation, and share it with people that have no idea what Revelation is about. This can be recorded live as a sermon for the church, and then re-used, etc.

I’m thinking of Clayton, Hugo, and Neetheam. Eroni wants to be part of the “one accord” part as well.

Steps

  • Organize “one accord” meeting, e.g. are the 144,000 literal or symbolic, etc.
  • Outline what we’re going to say (< 50 minutes)
  • Find a producer and camera person
